Hecht Development was formed in 1979. After building houses and three smaller developments through the 80’s, the company was put on the shelf to allow Bob Hecht more time to work with Century 21 Hecht Realty. The real estate company grew to 4 offices and over 140 people, and with some professional management assistance, Bob was able to bring Hecht Development back into a role as an active developer of residential communities in the Lake Norman and surrounding areas.
Beginning in 2003, Hecht Development has brought us LakeWood, Autumn Woods and Killian Crossing in Lincoln County, Kerns Meadow in Mecklenburg and is nearing completion and ready to open Wynswept in southern Catawba County. Careful planning and attention to detail are of utmost importance, according to Bob Hecht, in creating a community which will attract those wanting to build and call the area home.
LakeWood opened in Spring 2005 and now with all lots spoken for, about half the homes have been constructed and has become home for a number of people. AutumnWoods is one of the newer Hecht Development creations, and has only 50 homesites cut from a large wooded, 118 acre tract. Really pretty entrance with fountains, and opening to landscaped parkway leading into the community.
Killian Crossing is a builder community developed in 2007 with 50 homes completed and occupied and we are proud of how this community is coming along. Homes are priced from the low $300’s and lots may be purchased beginning in the low $40’s.
Kerns Meadow is in the Huntersville area, on Kerns Road and less than 2 miles from Northlake Mall and the intersection of I-485, so the drive to Charlotte downtown is unbelieveably close! Just 12 lots surrounding a meadow and although you are very close to everything, you still have the “out in the country” feel.
James Plantation is located just one-half mile from the heart of Denver and a short distance from the under-construction four lane Highway 16. Gated community with just 42 lots. Phase one is open and 11 lots are remaining to be spoken for.
Fairfield Forest is within walking distance of the Westport Golf Club and the brand new Westport Swim and Tennis Club! 23 homes already constructed and occupied, this all-brick community has a selection of vacant lots ready for building. Lots from the $40’s.
Creating a community starts from locating land, not just any land but a tract of land that lends itself to what you want the end product to be. Location is important as well as surroundings, topography and if it meets the Hecht Development vision. Each community is unique, grading is held to a minimum and just to get the roads and infrastructure completed without “mass grading” any site. Lot sizes have to be what people are looking for, and just a cookie cutter plan does not work.
All the planning and design takes time, and with the sale and merger of Century 21 Hecht Realty to Coldwell Banker United, Bob Hecht has the time to really concentrate on the residential development business. To be proud of what you have created is the goal, and to have the public see what you saw when the land was first walked.
We are proud of each community we have created and look forward to folks transforming a “subdivision” into their own “neighborhood”. That’s the ultimate goal.
